Classic "The Mayor's Challenge"

A full field participated in the 2005 Sister Cities Golf
Classic on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Delray Beach Golf
Club to support local student exchange programs to Japan
this year. Former Mayor David Schmidt was the chairman
of this tournament, which was won by the foursome of Trent
Hayes, Shelby Hayes, Matt Glass, and Chad Fredrick, who
posted a 57. Coming in second were Perry Cormen, Mark
Lucas, Scott Privitera, and Ellen Privitera, with a 59.
Third place went to the City of Delray Beach Parks &
Recreation Director Joe Weldon, Tim Weldon, Leigh Weldon
and Glen Trophf, who combined for a 61. Ben Ruby won the
closest-to-the-pin contest, while Andy Berger had the
men's longest drive. Ellen Privitera had the ladies longest
drive on Hole #1. All entrants enjoyed fabulous weather,
a host of prizes, raffle items, a bountiful breakfast
and lunch spread, and a nice presentation by Assistant
City Manager Bob Barcinski and David Schmidt.

Show
Monday, April 18, 2005
Over 300 attendees joined the Delray Beach Golf Club for
our inaugural Bridal Show, featuring exhibits, vendors,
and samplings of some of the top players in the local
industry. The event had horse drawn carriages, dynamic
wedding cakes and all the latest products and wedding
dresses. There was a model runway show, thousands of dollars
in door prizes and one lucky bride won a romantic honeymoon
getaway.

A crowd of nearly 100 joined the
teaching staffs at West Palm Beach Golf Course, Delray
Beach Golf Club, and Southwinds Golf Course on Saturday,
March 12. Over a dozen instructors gave group pointers
and swing tips, and even spent one-on-one time with each
interested customer in an effort to improve their swing,
match management or game strategy.
Beth Daniel Clinic – Saturday, January
15th, 2005 – Delray Beach Golf Club
Nearly 200 spectators braved the monsoon-like
conditions at the Delray Beach Golf Club on Saturday,
January 15th, 2005 to watch Hall-of-Fame golfer and local
Delray Beach Resident Beth Daniel give golf tips and pointers
at her annual clinic. Joining Beth for the event was 2004
U.S. Open Winner Meg Mallon, who also resides in Delray.
The Clinic was emceed by renowned speaker and sports psychologist,
Annette Thompson, who wowed the crowd with advice, jokes,
and anecdotes.
